INTRODUCTION
The Alfred Nobel Symposium, May 25-28, 2011, has the subject title “Machines, Molecules and Mind”, or “3M” for short. It is intended to involve and coordinate aspects from all three natural science fields of the Nobel subjects of Physics, Chemistry and Medicine. The first such symposium some years back concerned “Energy”, and now we centre on the “Brain”, combining all three subjects to understand and treat human diseases. It will span from thought-directed prostheses to electronic devices, chemical interactions, brain functions, mind and medicine. There will be about equally many lecturers and audience experts from each field but they now will talk to, interact with and get ideas from experts also in the other fields. We hope for interesting exchanges of ideas and for promotion of scientific progress by mixing these separate fields of brain science aspects.
